The Luxury Cruise Planner

Your checklist from first idea to welcome home. Print it, or save as PDF from your browser.

1. Planning timeline

12–18 months out: shortlist lines, ships and regions with your advisor
Choose suite category and location; place your deposit
Within 14–21 days of deposit: look at travel protection (pre-existing condition waivers)
Check passports are valid 6 months beyond return; check visas
90–150 days out: final payment (dates vary by line)
60 days out: book shore excursions, spa and specialty dining
30 days out: online check-in, flights, pre-cruise hotel, transfers
1 week out: print documents, luggage tags, confirm medications

2. Choosing a suite

Midship, mid-to-low deck for the least motion
Avoid cabins under the pool deck, theatre or galley
Check balcony size and whether it is partly obstructed
Forward or aft-facing suites: bigger views, more wind

Ask which inclusions come with the category (butler, laundry, dining)
Connecting suites for family or friends travelling together
Accessible suites if anyone needs step-free access
Bed configuration: king or twins

Your Meridian advisor can compare deck plans with you on a call.

3. Packing list

Passports, visas, cruise documents, insurance details
Medications in carry-on, plus a written list
Smart-casual evening wear; one formal outfit if your line has formal nights
Layers and a light rain jacket
Comfortable walking shoes for tours

What are the cancellation penalties at each stage?

What member perks does Meridian add to this sailing?
What is the dress code and onboard atmosphere?
How tender-dependent is the itinerary?
